International Film Meetings KAMERALNE LATO is a festival organized continuously since 2008 in Radom. It includes film competitions, innovative workshops for young people, outdoor events and screenings, and numerous accompanying events. The aim of the festival is to widely promote cinema and film education. Over the years, KAMERALNE LATO has undergone a transformation from a small festival focused mainly on the Radom area, to one of the most important film events in the Mazovia region with a transnational dimension.
EDUCATIONAL SECTION
The main idea behind the educational ptojects carried out as part of KAMERALNE LATO is to educate young people through contact with art. Film workshops are also an opportunity to go through the entire path of filmmaking – from an idea to post-production – under the guidance of recognized filmmakers and professionals in film technique. Divided into groups, adepts of the art of filmmaking, using projessional equipment, make short films, which they then present during a gala screening at the festival’s closing ceremony.
In the course of the international workshops, carried out with the support of the European Union, young people from different European countries not only take their first steps on a film set – the TOGETHER project is also an opportunity for intercultural integration, looking at art and social issues from the perspective of peers from other parts of the continent, as well as gaining valuable experience in the area of group cooperation.
The ABCs of Working with Camera project aims to level the gap in access to socio0-cultural activities for young people from smaller areas who wish to develop their creativity while gaining skills and improving their qualifications. Through the art of filmmaking, preventive measures are taken aimed at children, young people, educators, and local organizations and institutions. For years, the workshops have been organized in cooperation with the Mazovian Regional Police Headquarters based in Radom, which provides organizational facilities and logistical support during the courses.
INDUSTRY SECTION
SCRIPTMARKET.PRO is an accompanying event of the FREEDOM Film Festival, intended for the young audiovisual industry, which provides a platform for te exchange of information and for establishing cooperation in the production and co-production of full-length feature films, with particular emphasis on micro-budget projects by young directors and creative producers.
The goal of SCRIPTMARKET.PRO is to create opportunities for the young film industry to raise the production and distribution potential of the films being made and to increase the presence of young filmmakers in theaters. The project enables the exchange of knowledge, contacts, experience and good practices between young screenwriters, directors, producers and representatives of film production financing institutions.
COMPETITION SECTION
Two competitive reviews – HYDE PARK and WYSOKIE LOTY – are also held as part of KAMERALNE LATO. The HYDE PARK Competition is a space for filmmakers who play with cinema, creating unconventional, subversive short film forms that escape clear defifnitions. The joyful creativity presented during the review is judged and rewarded by the festival audience. The National Your Film Competition WYSOKIE LOTY is aimed at filmmakers under the age of 20. Tthe films themselves are also “under 20” – the competition includes short films up to 20 minutes. Among the judges are young filmmakers and film educators, who not only evaluate the works of young people, but also advise young filmmakers on their artistic development.
SPECIAL SCREENINGS
KAMERALNE LATO provides an incredible opportunity to experience cinema in true American style. Every year on the opening day, the festival hosts a drive-in cinema, where the screening is preceded by an introduction by a well-known film expert.
Also a regular feature of KAMERALNE LATO are the open-air screenings of “The Sky Above Radom” during which the city’s residents have the opportunity to watch cinema classics on the big screen and meet associated film stars, participating in discussions after the screenings.
There are also plenty of accompanying events, such as concerts, picnics and film meetings for children
