On July 12, the curtain fell on the first stage of INTERFILMLAB 10.0 and the international industry exchange FUSE at the FREEDOM Film Festival in Radom. For an entire week, emerging filmmakers from Poland, France, Norway, and Ukraine exchanged ideas, forged valuable connections, and advanced projects with global potential – infusing the Polish film scene with fresh energy and bold new perspectives.

INTERFILMLAB 10.0

The Radom edition offered a dynamic blend of lectures, workshops, and film project pitching sessions. Participants deepened their understanding of international film production, promotion, and distribution, laying strong foundations for making their mark on the global stage.

The industry lecture series kicked off with Eivind Myklebost Nordengen, who explored the pivotal role of film festivals as powerful platforms for promotion, prestige, and networking. Karina Kuberska delved into key principles of intercultural communication, underlining its significance in global audiovisual production. Artur Majer and Joyce Grech navigated participants through the intricacies of film financing in Europe, while Sherianne Bekhti offered an insider’s look at how small studios scout and nurture emerging talent.

The program concluded with an energetic pitching session, where participants unveiled their film projects – from early artistic visions, through detailed production strategies and financing plans, to bold concepts for promotion and sales. The line-up featured documentaries, mockumentaries, animations, and feature films.

The expert panel – Ewa Hoffmann, Izabela Kiszka-Hoflik, Michał Hudzikowski, and Marta Świętek – offered in-depth feedback, pointing out potential pathways for the projects’ further growth and refinement.

International industry exchange FUSE

This year’s FREEDOM Film Festival also featured the international industry exchange FUSE – Filmmaking, Understanding, Sharing, Experimenting. Young filmmakers from France, Norway, Poland, and Ukraine gathered in Radom to explore ways to support emerging creators in making their debut on the European film scene. Over the course of the program, participants discovered how the industry operates in different countries, sharpened both professional and intercultural skills, and forged connections that may spark future international co-productions.

Finale of film education programs at FREEDOM Film Festival

The Radom edition of INTERFILMLAB 10.0 and the FUSE exchange concluded with a finale of the film education programs, held alongside the 4th FREEDOM Film Festival and the 18th International Film Meetings KAMERALNE LATO. At the gala, young filmmakers received certificates of participation and gathered for a commemorative group photo, celebrating their achievements and newly formed connections.

The second stage of INTERFILMLAB 10.0 will take place from September 9 to 13 in Olsztyn, during the 12th WAMA Film Festival. Participants can look forward to an equally dynamic and inspiring program, designed to provide fresh skills and invaluable industry contacts.
