How do today’s youth perceive the issue of alcohol, and what do they see as its greatest threats? This is showcased in films created by the participants of the “ABC WORKING WITH THE CAMERA.”
During the “ABC WORKING WITH THE CAMERA” film workshops—held as part of the Masovian Social Prevention Programme at the 17th KAMERALNE LATO—two groups of participants, under the artistic direction of Kuba Bastkowski and Marek Pawlikowski, examined a persistent yet incredibly dangerous element of our lives: alcohol. Although even its occasional consumption poisons the body, it remains easily accessible, cheap, and culturally accepted, contributing to its status as one of the most commonly used addictive substances
The result of the youth’s reflections on this topic are two short films with unconventional forms.
Wczorajszy (Hungover)
“Wczorajszy” (Hungover), a production by Kuba Bastkowski’s group, focuses on how alcohol affects our memory, self-control, and relationships with loved ones. Uważaj, z kim tańczysz (Be Careful Who You Dance With)
The second group, in creating the film “Uważaj, z kim tańczysz” (Be Careful Who You Dance With), focused on youth and their relationship with alcohol. When and why do young people drink? The situations they portray suggest that alcohol is often seen as the quickest and simplest solution to their problems. What kind of problems? To find out, watch the film produced by the group under the supervision of Marek Pawlikowski.
