Professional pitching during the INTERFILMLAB 6.0

The sixth edition of the international project – INTERFILMLAB has already ended. It is a unique training program focused on supporting young filmmakers in the process of developing transnational film projects. The series of workshops and lectures ended with a professional pitching session.

The sixth edition of the INTERFILMLAB focused on the VoD market

For five days, the participants of the INTERFILMLAB 6.0 learnt the secrets of the current situation on the film market in Europe, which has changed dramatically in recent years under the influence of the growing power of streaming platforms. The resulting new opportunities for the development and promotion of film projects were presented to workshop participants by renowned producers – Izabela Kiszka-Hoflik and Mikołaj Lizut. Marek Pawlikowski and Karim Kourani – founders of the Kinographe Association, educators, journalists and filmmakers – supervised the practical side of the project.

– The INTERFILMLAB workshop is a unique opportunity to talk about the international co-production market and the impact of VoD on the area of film distribution. Young artists from Poland, Norway and France not only listened to lectures by experts, but also worked intensively on their ideas, which resulted in amazing projects that they presented during the pitching in the end of the workshop – says Marek Pawlikowski.

Pitchings during the final of workshop

The pitching session took place on Friday, October 7th, 2022, in the Gallery of the Secondary School of Fine Arts in Olsztyn – the festival’s partner. Participants presented their ideas to a professional committee – Izabela Kiszka-Hoflik, Mikołaj Lizut, Karim Kourani, Marek Pawlikowski and Eivind Myklebost Nordengen.

– Workshop participants presented four projects of film co-productions between Poland, France and Norway. The biggest advantage of these projects was the variety of themes and the diversity of film genres – says Pawlikowski. – I hope that the participants will continue to develop their ideas after the workshop and we will see them on the big screen in the future! This is a very exciting prospect.

Profesjonalizm młodych twórców

Each project was commented on by all members of the committee. The meeting was moderated by the film critic, presenter and announcer Błażej Hrapkowicz, who was greatly impressed by the professionalism of the young artists.

– The effects of the participants’ work exceeded our expectations. The pitchings were professionally prepared and very attractive. They could easily find themselves at a professional pitching session during a major festival – commented Hrapkowicz.

The INTERFILMLAB 6.0 was organized as part of the WAMA Film Festival in Olsztyn. The coordinator of educational programs during the festival was Anna Andriushchenko. The next edition of the workshop will take place at the beginning of November as part of the CINEMAFORUM festival.
